Title: Site - Not Secure
Post by: TheSmokedBlade on 05/12/2019 09:39 AM
According to Safari & DuckDuckGo our site is "Not Secure". Might this be remedied, as there's an immense amount of our personal data throughout the site. That's all I got, might be paranoid, however better paranoid than pwned.

Have seen this warning as well.....until this site is secure it's wise NEVER to put info on here that is personal that can be hacked.  Can this be fixed?

I tripped across another site that is a snapshot of the entire CG website from 2014 or 2015.  Very curious.

This warning is because the website does not use https, just http.

If someone is able to intercept your internet traffic, the data will not be encrypted.

This does not mean the website is compromised or anything.

Then given that, in this day and age when privacy and security is an issue, might I suggest a move to an https format??

Depending on the web server configuration, it might not be that easy, and it would increase the cost of the website slightly with an SSL certificate subscription.

That is the new site I have been working on.  I hid it through some random URL.  It is porting everything over to the latest open source technologies and should give us a good route to keeping things fresh.  The technology the site is running on now is antiquated and not really supported much for new functionality.

Regarding SSL, I do plan to have it running on the new site.  This old one I don't plan to invest any more in adding functionality.
