Nope. I prefer Starbucks bold blends.
Actually, I prefer Dunkin over Starbucks. However, since I get free Starbucks at work, I just drink that. :shades:
Every fall, they have a Pumpkin Spice Latte that my wife loves - it is really good for a "flavored" coffee.
Yeah I'm a Dunkin Donuts fan, probably because we have soo damn many near the house. But we buy the grinds to make at home too.
See, you are actually talking coffee here. There was a DD near my house in Oklahoma City, and I bought their donuts by the dozen. Mmmmmm. No DD near us in Melissa, Tx.
Not a big coffee fan but the donuts are fantastic
I was a Starbucks's fan until I tasted "Peet's Coffee." They really do a superb job on a cup of Joe. Give em' a try.

Missed DD's donuts when I moved to CA. For the most part I brew my own coffee.
The best cup of coffee I think I have ever had was in an Italian Army field hospital out in the wilds of Western Thrace during the Display Determination 92 NATO exercise. In my capacity as the NATO Medical Advisor to the Turkish Armed Forces I toured the field medical facilities of all the NATO nations participating in the exercise. The Italian hospital was set up in the middle of a harvested sunflower field miles from nowhere. The hospital commander invited me to the field mess for coffee and a chat. We walked in and I immediately found that the US military has it all wrong where chow is concerned. The tables had red and white checkered table cloths, there were fresh flower centerpieces on each table. There was a wheeled wine cart of all things. These guys knew how to put on a meal! And the coffee was superb! It came in a small white china cup and was thick and strong. Had enough sugar in it to kill a horse but it was GOOD.
My second favorite coffee was the brew in the little stand up coffee shops all over Germany.
Dunkin Donuts isn't bad, Krispy Kreme coffee either. I have never had an opportunity to try Starbucks.
Whenever I'm on the east coast to visit my wife's family I'm always sure to get my fill on DD coffee (and donuts).
I've never really had one close to me at any point so I've never really had that much DD. I just usually get my coffee from this place across the street where I work. Pretty good so far.
Not a starbucks fan, it's too bitter for me. DD is better. Since you mentioned coffee and donuts.... Quick Trip has great coffee and there's not much better than their maple iced long johns...... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm  More than once I've caught my 10-year-old grandson with his head in the donut case sniffin the maple LJ's.

Yes. Very true!
"Ein kanchen kaffe, bitte!"
Order the above in Germany and you get a little pot containing two cups of coffee, a cruet of cream and a small ramkin of sugar cubes. Great stuff.
Good times :)
Now I drink one of the darker French Roast blends from the local coffee roaster, buying the beans and grinding my own.
We're in the same boat. I drink a bunch of Starbucks these days because, A - free, B - it's the only option in this small town.
I also agree that I would prefer Dunkin and I LOVE pumpkin spice Latte
Can I get that at the store or is that a chain I have to go to?
I've been to Italy as well and I completely agree. The closest I've had in the states is at Olive Garden. I remember having a cup around the corner from the Eifel Tower. It was delicious.
There's a krispy kreme by my place and I do enjoy the coffee there. It's not DD, but it's drinkable. The donuts are the same, not as good, but will do. I just can't stand the price. I was getting donuts for about .60 at DD and they're a buck a peice at Krispy Kreme.
If you get the chance, try a Starbucks. I prefer Starbucks over Krispy Kreme.
I'm glad to hear that I'm not alone on this one! Thanks for the input gents. :thanx:

If you are talking about Pete's, I believe they have coffee shops out on the West Coast. Here in GA, you can pick up whole beans at certain grocery stores like Whole Foods.
I miss DD, the coffee I can get in the store and I have a Starbuck's but I really could go for a good donut. WY answer? Daylight Donuts which is basically a poor mans Krispy Kreme which I've never really been a fan of either.
I can't take a piss without hitting a DD. I'm drinking it now, it's pretty good.
Here's my gripe with DD: they brew it too dilute. I prefer to take a bag home, grind what I need and drink a more concentrated cup. That way I can have a stronger coffee that tastes good. My gripe with Starbucks is that I've never tasted a blend of theirs that didn't taste like sewage, even if diluted. My second gripe is my wife loves Starbucks. She drinks sewage and loves it! I guess that explains her attraction to me.
I lived in Colombia 3 years and always loved their coffee. I lived in Israel 11 years and lived on imported, powdered Nescafe, which I still like for instant. The national coffee, 'Turkish', is called mud by its fans and the name is right on the mark. As they gentrified, they imported European coffee, which tasted like, guess what- starbuckian sewage! Mud, sewage or instant. Those were the choices. Let me stress, I'm not referring to their own domestic instant which tastes like chalk. Or did. I left 14 years ago. Times change occasionally.
Coffee Geek
As for the donuts, they are only as good as they are fresh and at most places they aren't very fresh. Krispy Kremes, on the other hand....

That's my main gripe with American restaurant/coffee shop/donut haven coffee across the board. It's just brewed too dang weak! I want coffee, not brown hot water!

We have Whole Foods out here, so I'll keep an eye out for it. Thanx for the tip.
I agree that coffee seems to be diluted. I always attribute Starbucks sucess to their bold coffees. I just prefer DD' taste.
Sounds like the continuing argument I used to have at work when making coffee and trying to satisfy multiple tastes of employees. I tried to get there early so I could make it strong as I liked it. My argument was that they could always thin theirs down a little. I hated it when one of the ladies made it where it looked like tea, you could see the bottom of the cup. Yech! DD does seem watered down most of the times I've had it. Had some sample coffee inside a Sam's one time, and they seemed to be making it stronger than at their stores.
Most of my coffee seems to be at home, from a French Press. I just tried some Costa Rica beans from a well known grocery discount store, and it wasn't half bad.

Yes and no.
I am a fan of dunkin donuts coffee made at the shop, but the ground from supermarkets not so much. It's ground and looses some flavors before you can make it at home.
If you can get the beans and grind them just before brewing, I think you will find the flavor to be there like you remember. ;-)

You can buy the roasted bean DD coffee (at least a few varities of DD Blends) at any DD shop so you can take it home and grind it yourself. Once in a while, DD shops have a "2fer Sale" -- two bags for the price of one -- which is always a nice surprise.

At the company I previously worked for, I had a co-worker that would grind fresh DD every morning. Good stuff!
DD coffee is ok, but better made at home with enough beans to make a real cup. I'm not a huge fan of cake donuts, so don't often buy theirs. I liked the original Starbucks coffee, but their new blend sucks. I make better brew at home. Krispy Kreme coffee is yuck, but sometimes I can stomach their donuts.
I really miss Tim Horton's. By strange coincidence, we get Timothy's k-cups for the Keurig machine at work. I am pretty sure those k-cups are the same blend Tim Horton's uses, because they come real close to the real thing. I like the dark French Roast best.
I've got a Keurig and have had a few cups of Tim Horton's...Pretty good stuff.

Used to be a huge fan, not so much lately as the quality has very much degraded (at least around here).
Love myslef some Dunkin
The best cup of SB's I had was a Komodo Red Eye. That would have paired with any stick out there.
When at Dunkin, I get a large Mocha Turbo double red eye. But at almost 7 bucks a pop, I find that brewing sludge at home is more cost effective.
(I love strong coffee)

Yes to that.....
When I have the time and the motivation I really like to make an espresso with SB's Komodo Dragon or brew up a cup or two of Cubita. I have yet to find any stick that doesn't pair well with either of these......

Well they charge for the size of the "basic" coffee, then charge for each of the add-ons -- like each expresso shot is $1-$2, depending on where you are. Still quite a bit cheaper than $tarBuck$.

See the coffee at the DD around here is so terrible I could never justify paying that price. Of course with as short I am on funds I couldn't justify it even if the coffee WAS good. Having no money stinks.
When I lived in Boston I would drink DD all the time and in the summer would drink their frozen coffee as well. It's like all things and tastes...you eat drink or smoke what you like.
Ok I'm old but here's a flash to the past........
In 1978 my sister had a job working at Dunkin Donuts. Back then they had this slogan "Donuts Fresh Guaranteed" They use to make donuts every hour and if donuts sat out more then 6 hours...... yep you guessed it, they tossed em in the garbage.
My sister use to rescue 3 dozen "old" donuts every day, and bring them home from work.
Even 6 hours old those were the BEST donuts bar none !
:dancing: :dancing:
to this day when I go into a Dunkin Donuts shop, I remember all those orphaned donuts I ate.

But in this day of the NANNY STATE, most communities and states with legislators who have literally nothing better to do have passed laws against restaurants removing food items (out of date or whatever reason) then giving them to employees or anyone else.
With states and communities that allow such food to be retained for farm animal consumption, the food has to be secured in special containers. Any employee caught taking any of those food items for themselves or caught giving them away to anyone else is fired on the spot -- no exceptions.

So true. We had a place close to where I grew up that made the best doughnuts. Sadly, it couldn't compete with the larger chains and folded when I was in high school.
I can't believe I missed this thread earlier. My wife's family love Dunkin Donuts and any time any of us are somewhere there is a Dunkin Donuts, it is expected that they will bring back donuts for everyone else. Each person has their personal favorite that they generally get a dozen or so of. I always hear people talking about DD coffee, and having had it, it's good, but I don't find it better than some other places or even home brewed coffee if using a good varietal of whole beans. I go there for the donuts. afterall, it's not called Dunkin Coffee...

So I know I started this thread, but I would have to agree for the most part. There was a little donut shop in the town I used to work at that has been there for years and years. I loved to get a few donuts in the morning there. They made some awesome donuts but the small town atmosphere was great. I'd always see the same old man sitting in the corner reading the paper!
Does anyone remember the old "Slam Dunkin' Donuts" comedy bit? I searched for it on the net, but can't find it. Slam Dunkin' Donuts had plain donuts, jelly donuts, and Kareem-filled donuts. Their coffee came in three sizes: a small one, a medium one and Olajuwon.
