My boss gave me a bag full of cigars about a month ago. He told me that his father stopped smoking about three years ago and gave him all of his cigars so they weren't around tempting him. Boss man told me that he put them in a humi and then pretty much forgot about them. He knew I was into cigars so he gave them to me but thought that they might not be any good. I had to throw out about three or four of them that I could tell had a little bit of mold on the foot. The rest were hard as a rock and didn't have much odor to them. There was some wrapper damage, but I was gonna give it a try. I put the rest of them in a tuperware quarantine with a humi pack and let them sit for the past month, airing them out every so often. A month later, and they are soft and smell great. I had one of the Opus X's just to see how they were doing and it was fantastic. I think the Monte Carlo's are just cheep sticks from Vegas, but the others might be ISOM's. I'm just going by the wrapper though.

Nice boss! The tupperware lends itself to mold more quickly than a wooden humi. Give them some more humi-time at 60-65%, keep them cool (below 70 degrees), and move them into a wooden humidor (or even a good cigar box since there are so few of them) and they will improve even more.

Thanks for the advise. I moved them into a wooden humi a few days ago for the rest of the ageing/recovery. I just couldn't help myself with that Opus X the other day :cigarman:

About 8 months ago I lost my 2 cigar leather case. I found it last weekend and it had a RP Edge Churchill in it. It was hard as a rock. I threw it back in the humidor and will see if it comes back to life. I think they can be revived, I just don't know how much the quality is affected. :confused:
With time, I think revival is possible. What a score!

With nothing more than time invested in those cigars you have nothing to lose and alot of nice smokes to gain. It is like buying a Picasso at a yard sale!!

A similar thing happened to me recently. However, it was a single cigar tube and a JdN Antano Churchill. It had been in the tube since Winter started.
I decided to see how well the tube had kept the cigar, so I lit it the same day I found it. I honestly couldn't tell any difference compared to any other cigar I smoke from my own collection. It smoked perfectly.
I left a small gig bag at a bar that, in addition to some cables and a flask, also had my Punch 3-finger case that had a couple of Partagas Blacks in it. It sat in the manager's office for two months. No humidification and the case is far from airtight. I smoked one of the cigars on the way home. I could tell it was a bit on the dry side, but it was still a good smoke.
Wow, great score! Hopefully they will restore to their original glory.
