It's that time of year again! Even though the holiday season is a few months away, starting early will give everyone who wants to participate time to send a care package. Here is last year's post:
http://www.cigargeeks.com/index.php?topic=5894.0
This year, I'm going to change a few things. The basic rules:
*Send as many cigars as you would like. Even a fiver will make a difference. My address is in my profile.
*Packages can be drop shipped to me from vendors. DocJazz did this last year with success.
*Please PM me if you send a package. I'd like to avoid boxes sitting on my doorstep in case I'm traveling.
*If you would prefer, a cash donation can be made to cover shipping. Last year the approximate cost was $60 to ship 3 large packages. I will keep everyone updated in case we have enough to cover shipping.
*The cutoff will be October 31st for getting packages/donations in the mail to me. This will allow me enough time to get them shipped and the soldiers receive them before the holidays.
*I will keep a running list of those that have expressed interest along with if I received the package. If you commit to donating early on and decide it can't be done, no harm, no foul.
Last year, I created a virtual humidor with all the cigars. Depending on the response, I might do that this year - it takes a lot of time to do that, though.
As always, feel free to post any questions!
Now, time to break out the old coolidor.... :shades:
Out fukkin' standing Nathan. That's one hell of a good deed, and I appreciate it. I will be sending cigars to this effort.
You will be getting a package from me!.Will let you know before I send it.

Thanks for doing this again this year Nathan. I will pack up a box and send it out next week.
I'll get a few out in the next couple of weeks or so...

And yes, I am in. Not sure when I will send, but will let you know.
Bump for the weekend crowd.
The first donation has landed. Thanks go out to Mark (aka Herb)! :dancing:
Thanks for running this again this year Nathan. It really makes for a hell of a nice xmas gift for the troops who are stuck over there during the holidays, depending on when you time it. Count me in as well.

Ditto! Sorry, I've been busy with summer classes and work. I'll send some along soon enough.
PM sent. Sticks on the way. Thanks for doing this!! Great cause, we can not do enough for those guys!
I will be sending some and I am going to talk to the owner of one of the local shops to see if he can donate some. He is trying to downsize his humidor to put in a office. What better way to do that than to donate to our troops. I think I can get him to bite, I AMA former marine and he is ex navy, so iget a pretty good discount and he might be willing to donate. I will keep you posted.
Glad to see you're doing this again, Nathan. I'll be putting together a nice package for you.
Gonna put some together this weekend and get them out next week.
Unfortunately I missed out on this last year due to lack of cigars in my humi. I'll be sure to get some to you this year though. It's a nice way to say thanks.
Thanks again for doing this Nathan. You rock! :rocker:

Thanks everyone!
I'll get a box put together in the next week or two. I have to put one together for another place as well.
Got another donation today, sent by Paul (aka lubrix). 23 cigars for the troops, three cigars for me, and a note from some girl named Carmen. She was nice enough to autograph a photo of herself working a pole. She wasn't of the gitfiddl variety.
This was a bada$$ donation/bomb, and lubrix agrees.

As far as the destination, I've got a couple of groups in mind. We have a group of Marines in Afghanistan that has traditionally gotten at least a half if not all.

The guys and gals on the ground in Afghanistan need 'em a helluva lot more than I do.
Allright, everyone, this one is officially closed for this year. For those that donated, my genuine thanks go out to you all. For those that missed it this year, there is always 2012.
The first half went out today to Dale Marshall's group, a regular at one of the local B&M before he was deployed. The second half will be going out this week to a group recommended by SenorPablo.
Here are a couple of pics:
My God that's a lot of cigars!!! Great job everyone!

For all those that tossed in some cigars... Good Job! :bigthumbs:
I'm sure a few of our hero's will find some time in their busy day to enjoy these. :usa:
Awesome! Just Awesome!
Thank you Nathan for doing this again this year.
:thanx: :usa:
Outstanding!
Thats alot of cigars! I am sure the men will love it
Went to Applebees yesterday to celebrate my daughters having great report cards. While I was there I found out they were also giving free meals to any veterans, a very cool move by them. I mingled with a few and talked a little bit about the cigars for troops. I can tell you YES they do really appreciate them. For them it may be the only time of their day they will be able to forget about everything for an hour and relax. You guys are doing a really great thing AWESOME !!!!!! :bigthumbs:

That is quite an accomplishment, Geeks! Our men and women in uniform are sure to enjoy them!
And a big thanks again to Nathan (nwb) for coordinating the effort again this year. Folks don't realize just how much work it takes to get this done. :bigthumbs: :bigthumbs:

That's great, Thanks to all!.
Got to thinking about this today for some reason.
I hope the packages made it to our guys ok.
Any word from the troops??
As a newbie, i just saw this thread for the first time. This is amazing! My brother in law just got back from overseas and he said that a good cigar was really the only thing he had to unwind and get his mind off of things (he couldn't drink). Way to Geeks! I can't wait to be apart of the next one!

The cigars went to two different groups. I received confirmation that one batch made it.
Unfortunately, the other box bounced back to me. Those were sent out again to the group above and should be arriving soon.
Very nice job , Well done, I will hop on the train for 2012.
