I'm in Mexico again this week on business.  At a business dinner this past week I had the Reserva de La Familia Tequila.  Wow!!!!  This tequila blows away any of the super premiums I have drunk before.

Was very surprised to see that its produced by Jose Cuervo in honor of their 200th anniversary.  This is good stuff, pricey at $100+ a bottle but I am definitely going to be looking for a bottle at the airport tomorrow.

Unfortunately I did not get to enjoy a cigar with it, but it would go with a fairly strong stick.

I have that once several years ago.  I was also shocked that it was made by Jose Cuervo.  You are not kidding about it blowing the other "premiums" away.  It is truly great but as you stated, also pricey.  I think I shall treat myself to some in the near future .  Since you mentioned it and all.

If you haven't tried clase azul, do yourself a favor and give that one a shot.  It is pretty available in the states now, but it is the best I've ever had.

Yes a couple of people have recommended that I try that one.  I usually don't branch out beyond my normal favorite Herredura Reposado, but now realize that I certainly have not tried them all.

Gee another challenge.....

Not a fan of tequila. The last time I had the stuff was a year ago when I was in Mexico. I had what the tour guide called the equivalent to moon shine, only tequila. It was well over 100 proof and the shot about knocked me on my ass. It was not good.

Sounds good.  Tequila is one of the few hard alcohols I like.
I'm right 98% of the time.  Who cares about the other 3%?

Agreed!!!! (Leyenda was better) Both were delicious. 1800 Coleccion Anejo was good too, although a little pricey.

I used to buy cheap tequila in Ciudad Acuna when I was stationed at Laughlin AFB in Del Rio, TX. $2 a quart and worth every penny!

Then there was that one time I was TDY at Brooks AFB in San Antonio. I met a bunch of young flight nurses who had been in one of the classes I instructed at the USAF School of Health Care Sciences. We got to doing tequila shooters and....well, it got interesting.

Oh ya I forgot to mention my cousin from Germany is married to a Spanish Doctor in Mexico city where his family owns a Tequila distillery and boy it was fun to go through. We were pretty well cooked by the end of the tour and bringing home a case full of bottles was interesting many years ago before the one bottle rule. I kinda remember part of that day....... :lmao:

I have a bottle of JC Reserva de La Familia Blanco, I have known about it a good 6 yrs now and 6 mos ago it was on sale at the local grocery for $50.  I saw it and did not buy it.....$$$$ even at $50.  A week leter I kept going back to see if the 2 bottles were still there and decided since I was still looking at it to get it.  Still unopened.

I have not tried tequila and a stogie yet.  The traditional chaser for tequila is sangrita, not sangria but sangrita.  Its basically 3 parts spicy V8 and 1 part orange juice.  There are real recipes for how to spice up tomato juice but you get the idea.  I know it sounds a little strange OJ/Tom juice but its really good with a nice tequila.  The spciy sweet compliments a tequila, totally brings out the spicy sweet of a tequila.  I am thinking that the above would also be a good combo with a cigar.  I will have to conduct some reasearch, purely scientific of course for the benefit of my fellow BOTL tonight and report back.
