I recently had an Arturo Fuente Chateau (4.5x50) with a glass of Cellar No. 8 Zinfandel, which turned out to be a great match. The wine has a nice dry nice oak and vanilla finish that paired very well with the soft cedar notes of the Chateau.. I will definitely be adding more of both to the collection. Highly recommended.

I seldom pair cigars with table wine.  I'm good with "Port and cigars in the war room, gentlemen.", but I can't think of the last time I sat with a nice red and a smoke.

Speaking of cheap Zins, you ever try Rancho Zabaco wines, some lines of which sell for around the same price as Cellar No. 8.  I didn't care for their Dancing Bull, but the next wine up for a couple dollars more (still under $10) had some oomph"

I frequently have a good dry cabernet with a cigar.  I think they pair well.

I find the bolder the red wine the better pairing with a cigar.
That said, you can't beat a good port as well.

cosentino's cigarzin is delicious and made to pair well with cigars.  I highly recommend it

I've actually never had a cigar-wine pair. I'd like to experiment soon...will probably lurk the forums first though!

I absolutely agree!  Cigarzin is one of my standby daily drinking type of wines too.

Ive been drinking port for quite a while now, so the cigars just seemed to come naturally. But then the port goes good with Fritos too, lol. Ive also enjoyed my cigars with a pinot grigiot and a rhine wine. The light fruitiness/acidity seems to go good. Ive only smoked 7 cigars so far since i started though so im probly not the best source.

I've never really gotten into port so I don't really know where to begin.  Can you recommend a decent port in the 10-20 dollar range?  Or am I being cheap here?

I'm with Frank on this (scary, I know   )

I drink table wine at the table, usually with, but sometimes (depending on the wine) it's before or after,  dinner.

I am, however, fine with pairing a cigar with brandy, cognac, various fortified wines (as long as it's not that sweet) or alcoholic drinks (usually whisky straight up with one ice cube) and of course a good beer.

Ive only been drinking wine in the past year and a half or so, so im not sure im the best to recommend, switched gradually from beer. Also, im all about being frugal, ok cheap if you ask my wife, lol. I drink Taylor Port. It's ~$10 for a 1.5L. I've tried their Tawny Port but its a bit more sulfurry(?) than i care for. It is strong though @ 18% abv. Way more than the whites i drink.

My parents kept a jug of Taylor Port for my aunt to sip when she came to visit.  While it won't win out in contests with the high-end ports from across the pond, Taylor is a good quality, flavorful fortified wine and is very consistent from bottle to bottle, which, sad to say, isn't true for some of those high-priced  overseas varieties.

A cudos for Taylor. I did buy a bottle of regular port that had the Tawny port taste. Contacted their customer service and they sent me the packaging to send it back to them and sent me a check for ~10. Always have to count the accountability factor as a standup company as well.

I am no port aficionado, but I do enjoy the Taylor ports. They have a variety of price ranges, and I find even the cheapest in their lineup to be decent. Others may disagree, but dammit, they are MY tastebuds :-)

IMO Zinfandel aka. Primitivo is a safe grape paired with cigars. I'm not close to know anything regarding wine, but some of my friends are really into it. I like some red now and then, and since they have a little bit knowledge about cigars they ment the primtivo grape could be a match for cigars. and maybe som heavy Riocha's as well. IMO the keywords are heavy, and a bit sweet at the aftertaste.

IE: Torano Exodus 1959 Gold short churchill and Illusione Epernay Le Matin is just fantastic to a cheap Doppio Passo. Bear in mind, IMO. I'm not too impressed by pairing cognac/brandy to cigars, those two goes best to coffee. If you are into single malts whisky, then we are talking about a lot of great pairings... I've got a longer relationship to single malts than all my GF together

I really enjoy to pair different beverages with cigars, but I'm also a nutcase regarding stogies. I enjoy the crap out of me with ALL aspects with cigars :dancing: I just have one regret: I should have traded the darned cigarettes with cigars a LOOONG time ago :-(  :-(  :-(

Right now I got a little infusing adventure going on. A tupperdor filled by 3 different sticks together with a shot glas of a small batch single malt. They have been "partners" for 6 weeks, and will get ( I think at least 3 more weeks) before splitting them, and resting down to 70%RHs

Wine is always a good choice to pair with. The cigar and port thing is big and always has been, but I prefer a good chianti with velvety mouth feel and some smoke and tannins. Really complements a cigar well.
