Try a craft brew from LaVista, NE called Certified Evil brewed by Lucky Bucket.
Very complex, dark and 10%+ alcohol.
Great with a good smoke on a winter's day. :-)

Firstly, :welcome: to CG!

Secondly, my current favorite beer with a cigar is Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout from Brooklyn Brewery.  I have some that I've been aging for a year, and it's absolutely delicious.

Welcome dude! Free beer is the best but after that I like a dark beer best of all...or a Natty light...

I don't drink much beer anymore, but I like New Belgium 1554 every once in a while with a full-bodied smoke.

I've found that the local microbreweries produce some pretty outstanding beers and ales  :-)

I agree. Best beers with cigars usually are from local breweries and something darker. Stouts, porters or something in the 7-10% BAC. Anything else is just too light and doesn't compliment a cigar well.
Insert witty phase here,
while I clear my mind and enjoy this cigar.

Great beer... I've been thinking that Yeungling might be good w/ a med. Habano wrapped stick, but I can't get any out here on the fringe...  :-(

They didn't distribute it in Georgia until a couple of years ago, so I had to fill up when I visited my brother in DC.

Last time I had it was when I was down visiting my best friend in FL.  Can't believe thats been 3 yrs. ago now. Time goes way too fast... :-(  At this rate, I'm gonna be like Ken before I know it.  Well aged and crotchety.

I agree with that somewhat, but there are some pale beers worth trying with cigars. The Quesada Oktoberfest went wonderfully with an amber Spaten Oktoberfest, a good tasty connecticut wrapped cigar goes good with a malty helles, or a pale wheat beer, or at least I've enjoyed the two together.

I am a big fan of bourban barreled barleywines or imperial stouts. Some of my favorites are barrel aged alesmith old knumbskull, Goose island bourban county stout.

Have to say, Samuel Adams Alpine Spring paired pretty well with a AF Hemingway last night

I am typically a super light beer person, being a runner and trying to watch the calories I typically have a Michelobe Ultra.  When smoking a fuller bodied cigar I find that a beer with a little "twang" is nice and really enjoy a corona light. Looking forward to the dog days of summer!!

I totally agree, pale beers do go great with cigars.  In the spring and summer months, I frequently pair cigars with pale ales, India pale ales, hefeweizens, bocks, Scotch ales, and Saisons.  I really enjoy Cameroon wrapped sticks with the I.P.A.s and Saisons, particularly the Oliva Serie G and the Arturo Fuente Hemingway.

I picked up 10 cases of Yuengling Porter when I was in Florida over New Years. Great beer with anything, IMHO.

I am not concerned about what you think as I can tell you don't do it often.

Welcome from the Pacific Northwest. We're glad to have you.

My favorite beer(s) are: Quilter's Irish Death, Drop Top Amber Ale, Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Dead Guy, and Boston Lager. They all pair well with a medium to full bodied cigar.

:welcome: to Geekdom Tom! I love a good dark brew with a cigar. I haven't seen any LaVista on the shelves here, but will be looking for it now. "Certified Evil" is an intriguing name :-)

And a big +1 on the Quilter's Irish Death, Bryan. I *really* wish they would sell out it on the east coast. Which reminds me, you should make sure your bunker is in good repair. There is a fairly hefty retaliatory strike being planned within the next few weeks

It has been quite a while since you dropped that Irish Death from on high, and interest accumulates with time.  I think you should prepare for the worst
