Costco has the best prices that I have seen - but there's got to be a better way than to generate all the waste. I love my K-cups, but hate the waste.

Man, who'd a thought this thread would bring out the coffee snobs and environmentalists.  I get mine at BJs, right now they are $38 for 80.  Only a couple choices though, Newmen's own and green mountain.

Dave, you ain't right.....

I actually specifically haven't bought a Keurig because of the waste factor.  I much prefer my fresh ground brew in a styrofoam cup.

I stopped wasting money on kcups
I bought the refillable kcups and add my own coffee to them
right now my fav is peets  Sumatra. I find I.am.saving a ton of.money this way

vw77guy

I ussualy get mine from Bed bath and Beyond.  They always send my wife 20% off coupons in the mail, and I don't think their prices on them are that bad.  Real good selection too.  And don't listen to these coffee snobs!  I'm a fan of variety, in both the bean and the brew.  Sometimes you just need to chuck in a k-cup and go.  So I'm with ya.

And as for the coffee grounds.... I've used them as compost in my gardens for years.  No grounds of mine ever see a landfill.  and the Filter decomposes in like a week.

nadroj

I always buy them from amazon.com. The flavor I normally buy (Doughnut Shop) is usually $30 for 50 k-cups.

TatuajeKid

My Wife buys K-Cups from the keurig website.  She mostly uses hers for tea and I bought her a ekobrew cup that works much better than the stock brew your own insert that comes with the machine.  The ekobrew is great for doing loose herbal teas.  I even enjoy a hot tea every now and then.  Here is a link to the ekobrew:  http://www.ekobrew.com/wp/

As a follow-up, I can tell you about one brand to definitely avoid. While at Wally World, I saw some "cups made for the Keurig machine" - (apparently they can't use the words "K-cup") from Grove Square. Was only about $7 for 18. Cheap enough.

Terrible. Tastes just like instant coffee, not even good instant coffee.  I threw the rest away. Save your money!  When I got home, I saw it even says "instant coffee" as one of the ingredients.  Who wants to buy instant coffee in a K-Cup? I've decided that most of the time I will just use fresh ground beans and put them in the adapter, that works well, and you still get most of the mouth feel of French Press.

Reighvin

I bought the adapter and have since lost it due to never using it. My intentions were good, but when it came down to it, I was just too lazy to do so. I want my coffee and I want it now. I used to order my K-Cups online, and sometimes still look, but mostly I just pick them up at the local Target, Base Exchange, or Giant Grocery store while I am there for other things.

I totally gave up on the K-Cub when 4 Keurig machines self destructed on me - I just got tired of calling Support and shipping the spent carcasses back to the factory. I switched to the CBTL machine and life is GOOOOD.

I like the coffee from this machine but knew from day one this is something that can get expensive because you always have to buy their stuff.  I like French Press much better and there's not waste at all.  I get my beans and put the right amount for my 22 ounce cup and a pound of beans last me a month for $14...I drink FP every day and it's better than any coffee machine anywhere...but that's just me.

Cfickter

We love our K-Cups.  Mostly buy at Bed, Bath & Beyond.  Wife usually has discounts and we have points from debit cards we can use there.  I believe she has picked up some at COSTCO and Target.
Great tip on composting, we will have to give it a try.

Did you buy this from the U.S.?   I followed your link but keep getting the Korean website.
I'm on a Korean ISP so that may have something to do with it.
