ALL GEEKS!

Have seen several outstanding bomb being delivered here recently! After getting over the initial Shock and Awe of GarCar's latest strike the idea came to me that Mad Bombers such as Carl should get what they have coming to em! So I'm creating a yearly contest to recognize our resident bombers and all the devastation and havoc they create!

SO, here are the categories I have decided on and the punishment!

  • Heavy hitter: Best combined cigars in a bomb. Can be expensive, rare etc. Mixed box of 15 cigars and a lighter.
  • Most creative: Can be the creativity of the cigars, how it's written etc. Mixed box of 10 cigars and a cutter.
  • Carpet Bomber: Most bomb's sent. Mixed box of 10 cigars.
  • Funniest bomb: The 5 funniest/weirdest smokes that all the members can come up with   Need member help with this one! If you have or come across an exceptionally weird or funny smoke contact me and I will gladly trade you for it!
  • Best NEWB bomb: Best bomb by a member during their first 90 days on the Geek. It's a surprise!

Here are the rules:

  • Bomb must be nominated here in this thread for a specific category by a member and then seconded by another member.
  • Bomber cannot recommend their own bomb :shades:
  • Nominations can only be for pure BOMB'S! So the sender had to clearly identify that it was a bomb and in the case of combined shipping the specific cigars that were the bomb portion had to have been clearly identified.
  • Bomber can be nominated for multiple categories throughout the year but can only win in 1 category.
  • In the event that a bomber was to win more than 1 category they will be declared the winner in the category they get the most votes in and dropped to 2nd place in the other category. The 2nd place finisher in the other category will be declared the winner for that group.
  • When you nominate a bomber please include a link to the posted bomb for easy reference at the end of the year.
  • ALL bombs sent in 2012 qualify! So feel free to go back and nominate all your favorites so far this year.
  • I will compile all nominees at the end of the year and members will vote on the winners in each category.
  • I will bump this thread once a month because I know we geeks have a short memory :shades:

And being my competition I will make the first nomination!

GarCar for the most creatively written bomb

Maybe it's like becoming one with the cigar. You lose yourself in it, everything fades away, your worries, your problems, your thoughts. They fade into the smoke, and the cigar and you are at peace. ~Raul Julia

I'd like to nominate Tataujekids ESG bomb for heavy hitter. That's 4 $20+ smokes.

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

Nice contest Jeff.  I want to play too.

A wise geek once told me that moving up from a daily smoke to a weekly or even bi-monthly smoke would be worth it, if I could learn how to appreciate a really really good cigar. -southernrun

I'll agree and second that one! Could you please post a link to the bomb.

And yes you can all go back to the beginning of the year and nominate a bomber. As long as the bomb was sent in 2012 it's all good. Glad all of you like the idea. IMO all the bomb's flying around and the generosity of members is a big part of what make's this the best cigar community out there. So just think they need to be recognized

Jeff - For clarification, we are excluding all Wishlist PIF, Mini PIF and Secret Santa's, is that correct?

That is correct. This is strictly for Bomb's only! Cannot be any kind of combination either. For example a trade of 3 and they decide to combine shipping and include a bomb of 3 only the 3 that were specifically the bomb count not all 6!

I know this one happened at the end of 2011, but I think it needs an honorable mention, and I figured this was the best place for it:

I would agree that one deserves at least a mention in the finals!

Sounds good.  People should be rewarded for thier generousity.  But just to be a d*ck, I'll start taking bets to see if Jeff is still around at the end of year.

Cool idea.

Re: NEWB Bomb - Is 45 days sufficient? Not that I'm the only one concerned here, but to use myself as an example: I've been posting here since March 6 (so over 45 days) and I've done 5 reviews in that time as well and I'm still not at 100 to see people's addresses. Seems like you'd have to be on a torrid pace posting and smoking to get to 100 within 45 days... (I post at a torrid rate in my opinion...)
