This looks like it is going to happen relatively soon.  I've done a fair amount of work on the back end to make this come together.  I want to put a call out for members who are interested in becoming a Staff Reviewer for the Geek Critique.  I'm really looking for folks who will go above and beyond on the review to make more of an article out of the review as opposed to the normal review of the cigar.  If you are up to the challenge and consider yourself capable of handling the task please step forward.  I believe i'll need 4 or 5 folks.

Oh, and the cigar will be provided gratis.

Thanks!

I would be more than happy to lend a hand in this matter or any matter for that matter.

I would be up for the challenge.  I can even add pics if the space allows.

Thats a great idea, there ought to be a slot for pictures on the review form.

I do like when Duker adds photos to his reviews. And I just got myself a Christmas present of a new digital camera. My old one was kinda crappy and didnt hold much of a charge. But my new Nikon P80 should do the cigars some justice in a photo.

It looks like there may already be enough replicants for this month but Id like to do it, maybe next month.

Aequitas86, My digital camera is the oldest, most beat-up, hand-me-down, 3 megapixel POS you've ever seen. Seriously, from like the first year they were out. Its huge and uncomfortable to use and it takes like 10 seconds from when you push the button till it finaly clicks the picture. Im hoping for a new one soon.

Perhaps you should post a sample of what you are looking for and then have members post a review of a cigar they have smoked in the desired format and pick the ones that are the best for your first review.  Once you have shown the ability to competently rate cigars in that format you get thrown into the pool of potential reviewers.  I personally would be interested in seeing something like that because I have never done any formal review and would probably want to do a few "critique style" reviews on my own before I would want to be included in the panel.

We have some pretty eloquent reviewers around here, but if needed I will gladly lend a hand.

I would be more than happy to smoke a free cigar and tell everyone what I think about it.  It would be no problem, I assure you

Wow.  Quite a response.  I appreciate everyone's help.  This gives me a list to work from.  I follow up with more details as I get them.

Too late to join in?  I'm with qman - I would happily review a free cigar.  Actually, it makes the review more objective since I don't have to say good things about a cigar because I paid $20 for it.

I'm probably too late, but I'd be happy to help out on the next go round.

I may be too newb, but if you want a "fresh" perspective.  I'd be happy as well.

So the deal is done.  Our first set of cigars has arrived and they will be the Arturo Fuente Hemingway Classic Maduro.  These things look great.  I have decided 4 reviewers will be:

I basically chose based on seniority.  If we continue this next month (and I have no reason to believe we won't) then i'll mix it up a bit and include a few others who may not be so senior but are still active members on the site.  I'll be hopefully shipping them out tomorrow.

Our very generous sponsor for this benefit is CigarsDirect at http://www.cigarsdirect.com/.  You'll notice their logo on the left side of the site very soon today.  These folks have been an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Thanks!

Great choices for the review staff.  I think just about everyone on here has tastes that match at least one of the reviewers.

I dont think Ive ever smoked one of these before but Fuentes are one of my favorite brands. Ill do my best to do a good review for you guys. Thanks for giving me the chance Paul!!!

By the way, Ive dealt with Cigars Direct before and they are great to deal with, very nice bunch. If you havent signed up for their newsletters and cigar specials, do it now, they have some great deals and their contests and giveaways arent bad either!!!
