Anyone ever use this unit:

i have three humidors, and something like this appeals to the geek in me.  Price seems reasonable, and it can be calibrated, unlike the Xikar model recently introduced.  Plus, the Xikar one is MUCH more costly.

Does the Xikar still have the lifetime warranty, even for hygrometers?  Then maybe it's worth it, but I could buy four complete sets of the other one before the Xikar is a better deal...

Looks cool. You should buy and review so I know whether to look into it! :) I have 3 humidors as well, and this sounds like a great idea!

Mine has taken a bit of a down turn lately as the display has started to give out. Might have to pick one up my self.
I am not concerned about what you think as I can tell you don't do it often.

I found this interesting, so I went to the mfg website found the following
the accuracy of +/- 5% is a worry, but not sure what exactly they mean by the second statement about being calibrated to a known source?

The WS-05 includes adjustable temperature and humidity for the upmost accuracy. Calibration is not required and the accuracy specification of +/- 1 degF for temperature and +/- 5% for humidity may be perfectly acceptable for most users, but for critical applications, the temperature and humidity can be adjusted to match a known, calibrated source.

Dang, the 8 unit would be handy.....

As Chuck pointed, I wonder if that is based on factory calibration. Wonder what the +/- is once calibrated manually. Who's going to call and ask?!

Also, they have multiple models. Wonder if they have smaller accuracy fluctuations? The model we're looking at is their cheapest.

I have the Ambient WS-10 http://www.amazon.com/Ambient-Weather-WS-10-8-Channel-Thermo-Hygrometer/dp/B00FX8ZGOO with 6 sensors.  I salt tested and calibrated the sensor units and they seem to be performing well in my Winedor and desktop humidor.  I've had the unit for about two months with no issues.

Don't get accuracy confused with precision. If a sensor is precise to within 5% that means it is capable of measuring differences to within that range. Versus accuracy meaning the answer it computes is correct. Calibration corrects accuracy issues but will not fix the precision limitation of a measuring device. It'd be like having a ruler with the numbers written in the wrong locations. Fixing the locations of the numbers doesn't add additional tick marks to measure smaller units. It will still only measure up to 1/16 of an inch, but now when you measure something you will have the right answer (within the precision limitations of that instrument of course).
I never can understand how anyone can not smoke it deprives a man of the best part of life. With a good cigar in his mouth a man is perfectly safe, nothing can touch him, literally.
