How are you doing it up tomorrow?

Our gathering is pretty big, so I am frying one and smoking another.  Good excuse for a day full of cigars though.

"I call this turf 'n' turf. It's a 16 oz T-bone and a 24 oz porterhouse. Also, whiskey and a cigar. I am going to consume all of this at the same time because I am a free American."

Soaking in the brine right now. Smoking her up tomorrow.

I prefer to inject ours with butter Creole injection and fry it. However this year we just baked 2 and smoked a fresh ham.
You should hurry up and acquire the cigar habit. It's one of the major happiness's. And so much more lasting than love, so much less costly in emotional wear and tear.
Aldous Huxley

Maybe it's like becoming one with the cigar. You lose yourself in it; everything fades away: your worries, your problems, your thoughts. They fade into the smoke, and the cigar and you are at peace.

Brining the 20 lb. girl right now.  Will roast in the oven tomorrow beginning around noon.  We'll eat after the Lions game.  Hope to squeeze in a cigar sometime.

Just the wife and I this year so she only got a breast. Said that she is going to throw it in the crock-pot and cook it up that way. I guess a lady she works with does it that way and says it's awesome.

Someone else is doing the turkey this year, but I know it will be oven roasted. If it's up to me, I brine and roast, using Alton Brown's methods.

Alton Brown is the MAN!

We're also being served tomorrow, but I picked up an 18 pound bird anyway because they're so cheap.  Will brine tomorrow and oven roast Friday.  Turkey Croquettes on the menu for Sunday.  YUM!

Roasting ours and can not wait to dig into it tomorrow! Been waiting for this day for awhile, miss the homemade pies and green bean casserole!

A traditionalist here so we will be roasting it.
I am not concerned about what you think as I can tell you don't do it often.

I used to be a people person, but then people ruined that for me.

A lot of people will be coming by for some roast turkey.

We don't host so I don't really have a say in the turkey.... If it was my choice I would be smoking one all day.

Cfickter

been wanting to try one deep fried, just keep getting voted out!  But roasted with the family secret stuffing, not going to argue

Guess I'm the lone "store bought" vote.  We have a local market that precooks a locally raised free-range bird for you, seals it in a bag with about 4 cups of broth, and then you just reheat it for 2 hours.  Its the first time we are trying this, but some friends have raved about how good it is.  And to be able to know for sure that the bird is cooked right on time along with all the sides will be a bonus.  I'll let you know how this goes.

Brine and roast is my way of doing it, but that Turkey is history now as our TG was in October

I'm smoking one (turkey) and roasting one.  43 lbs of bird altogether.  That should guarantee me a turkey sandwich over the weekend.
