Does anyone have The jet zippo? Or have used the jet zippo? I like the classic look of the zippo I'm debating what lighter I should purchase! Any recommendations is greatly appreciated!

I have seen them but never had one. Xikar lighters are my recommendation, they come with a lifetime warranty, it quits and you send it back to them for a new one.

I used wood matches for the first time. I'm just getting idea's. I will read a million more things Before I purchase anything(my nature)

I prefer cedar spills versus matches (although matches are handy for lighting the spill!) - the sulphur on a match can taint the flavor of freshly lit cigar if lit too quickly after striking.  You can order spills online (cedarspills.com) or break the cedar sheet that comes in many boxes of cigars into strips.

As noted above, Xikar is great brand for butane lighters.  With a lifetime warranty, it's hard to go wrong.  Many B&M's will exchange them on the spot so you don't have the hassle of mailing them in.

I got one as a gift. it is big and the button is hard to press down. I don't use it at all.

The Burn Ward

Just got a Jetline Gotham, way sleeker and lighter than the reg quad flames.

The Burn Ward

It also has a punch but I'm a cap snipper.

I use a Bugatti B1 I got from CI and cedar spills. My friend has the zippo inserts and they work good but he says he doesn't like the big lid that flops over compared to the small flap on my Bugatti. The Bugatti also has a built in punch incase you misplace your cutter. Seen some go for around 13 on CBid recently.

I carry a zippo with the butane (soft flame) inserts when I travel... these are TSA approved; however, if I get an overzealous TSAer who argues and wants to take the lighter, I'll just give them the cheap insert and pick up another one at my destination.

On the topic of Zippos, I'm curious if anyone uses a traditional Zippo to light their cigars. Before everyone jumps me I am well aware you can produce off flavors and don't intend to use one myself. However, I prefer a soft flame, and have always liked the classic Zippo. I was searching through some forums looking for the conversion kits you can buy for the butane soft flame. In reading through the comments, I noticed a surprisingly large number of people saying if you light it and let if burn for a bit before using it to light your cigars you don't get any off flavors. I just found this hard to believe and was curious if anyone here does this.

I use a regular zippo from time to time and have never noticed an off flavor from it. It and a Bic are my go to lighters when I want a soft flame

Maybe it's like becoming one with the cigar. You lose yourself in it; everything fades away: your worries, your problems, your thoughts. They fade into the smoke, and the cigar and you are at peace.

You're using the Zippo with the actual fluid not a butane conversion?

I have used an actual fluid zippo as well in a pinch, never noticed anything off about the flavor either. I also have the jet insert, and it is ok, but you have to turn them WAYYYYYYYYYY up to get a good flame.

Before I gave up my beloved Camels, I always carried and used a standard zippo.  I loved it.  The sound, the smell.  The fact that it always lit.  I may have to fill her up again and try it on a cigar...

You guys have me thinking I'll give it a try on one of my cheaper ones. Worst case I ruin it and get the conversion kit.
