I find myself rarely going below 4 stars for cigar ratings. Is it because I'm only smoking premium cigars, or is it because I tend to buy what I think I'll like? Do you find that your ratings vary? When I watch Cigar Hound on the Tube, I think he has a few things he hates that really reduce his ratings. I have enjoyed his recommendations generally, but disagree on his low ratings mostly as well. Is there any reviewer you enjoy or someone who aligns with your taste?

I try to smoke a great variety of blends and enjoy the exploration. As for cigar reviews I believe this is truly the greatest era to be a cigar enthusiast with so many great companies producing fantastic blrnds. Matt with Cigar Hound Dog makes me laugh with his reviews. If the cigar doesn't taste like a fruit salad or candy bar he trashes it. I like Jonose reviews, anything from the Sahakians and Momento reviws to name a few.

Except for the occasional Geek Critique, my interest in reviewing cigars has waned over the last 25 years of puffing. I still smoke 3 times in a day, everyday, but rarely review anymore. I might still do one if the cigar is exceptionally good or exceptionally bad.

what was the last exceptionally good and bad cigars you remember?

hmmm...exceptionally bad does not happen very often, but as I recall, the Toasty Jones from cigarpage.com stands out of the crowd like a dried out old turd needing to be flushed. The last exceptionally good cigar I smoked and reviewed a couple few years back was Caldwell - The T (Short Churchill). I smoke a lot of budget friendly sticks these days and I'm liking the Padilla Reservas and Dominus. For a special treat I always keep a few 1926 Padrons on hand.

Other than critiques (which I seem to do a lot of lol) I can't remember the last time I've left an actual review, which is probably shame on me, before I purchase sticks I do typically try to do some research. I also though typically am biased towards things I like since I have been smoking so long, so I don't venture to far off the beaten path :smoker: I would agree this is a great time to be a cigar smoker / hobbiest. There's a lot of great cigars being rolled and produced, thankfully even with rising prices they are somewhat reasonable and there's a ton of amazing cigars still around $10-$15 and can really still find deals on primo sticks for under $20, long way to get to I haven't smoked a really bad cigar in a long time lol

I don't review as much as I used to.  I feel like I should but I guess I'm lazy.  As for ratings, I've been smoking too long that I have a big collection and rarely smoke a cigar that isn't going to be at least above average, so I tend to skew higher. But for the same reasons I also expect a lot from my cigars, so I suppose im a tough grader.
