Humidifier won't stick

I have a new humidor that I am trying to season.  However, after at least an hour, the humidifier falls off of the lid.  The metal plates for the magnet to stick to fall off of the lid.  What can I use to stick these to the lid without harming any cigars that will be stored in there?

Hit the Walmart or craft store and buy yourself some velcro tape.  It's worked well for me on a couple humidfier problems.  Sometimes the adhesive that comes with the humidor/humidifier just isn't up to the job.  Hope that helps.

I used Krazy Glue or some kind of similar cyanACRYL (Jackal, where are you?) adhesive.  Just leave the lid open for a couple of hours for the fumes to dissipate.

Gorilla Glue.  Spread it real thin, keep it away from the edges, and use sparingly!

Not to "dis" my brother George, but Gorilla Glue will expand like my ex-wife's butt did.  I use the same type of polyurethane adhesive when building speaker cabinets.  The stuff will fill a 3/8" gap as it cures and expands.  That's why I used Superglue, krazy glue or whatever that crap is that Eddie Murphy put in the guy's turtle tank in Beverly Hills Cop.

If it is the metal plate that attaches to the humidor box, you could drill holes in the plate and attach to the box with screws.  If it the magnet in the humidification device, this still might work, but you need to drill through the magnet and attach to the plastic device.

That reminds me of something that happened recently.  My mother-in-law looked into getting a boob job.  She tells my father-in-law that its going to cost $5,000.

He says:" $5 Grand!  I got a way you can do it for nuthin'!  Just rub this piece of Cottonelle all over your boobs everyday for the for the next 2 weeks."

She says: "You've lost your mind.  How on earth is that going to make my boobs bigger?"

He says: "Well, it sure as hell worked on your ass!"

How about a couple small / short screws?  If you have a drill and appropriate bits, screws will hold better than any glue, and no worries of chemicals.

I've had everything NOT stick that is possible: lid to adhesive, adhesive to metal plate, magnet to humidifier, etc. Super Glue/Crazy Glue is your best bet. Just to be safe, air it out after you use it.

Cyanoacrylates are excellent for gluing two relatively non porous surfaces that don't expand or contract with humidity.  Thus, I don't use them on humidors.  Instead outdoor wood glue (the stuff that is immune to water is my choice).  Go to the hardware store and get some Tite-Bond II Premium Outdoor wood glue.  I have used it on all of my humidors and it holds like nobodies business.

I should correct myself--I have NOT used that stuff directly on the cedar.

I stopped doing this years ago...put em in there loose as it's a PIA to keep prying them off from the Velcro or magnets.  I put a cedar sheet for the the hygro/humidifier to lay on top of the cigars so when I open the humidor I see immediately what the RH is and the puck is ready to dispense in the tub of DW.  Make life easier access I say.

Go with Pliobond.  Pliobond is a flexible adhesive that is water resistant and tough as nails.  Also perfect for nonporous and porous materials of all persuasions.  You can find it on line easily.  The other suggestions are good but all them guys are wrong, wrong, wrong!  I, on the other hand, am a recognized expert in just about anything you can think of so you can trust me...really!  If you doubt that you can just ask my dogs.

I've never had any issue with quality velcro tape.  The stuff that comes with the humidor/humidifier is garbage and never sticks.

The main reason I don't keep my humidifier in the lid is the risk of overfilling it and having it drip onto your stogies.

If you are looking for a less permanent method I would go with Velcro.  I use 3M 2 sided tape for the magnets on my bead holders and it works well

Been there did that.  I got tired of babysitting the stupid thing after recharging it and trying to ensure there was no drippage...forget it.  Put a sheet of cedar under it on top of the cigars and lay the hygro/puck on top and walk away..no fumblin, stumblin, bumblin or mumblin.

3m pull tab things work great for me

I haven't had problems with the magnets popping off, but I have had a problem with the tape (and metal piece) falling off due to the tape not sticking.  I think I'm going to get some small brass screws and just screw the metal plate on.
