I agree with Nathan on this one.  Boveda are the way to go, they don't leak or grow mold or bacteria.

Those sponge types are prone to growing stuff.  If you really want to save it, I would suggest immersing it in hydrogen peroxide for 20 minutes and then giving it a good shake out, followed by a rinse with distilled water.  Leave it out overnight to dry, then recharge with PG solution.

I have two Boveda Humidification Packets on order to Voexum from Cheap Humidors.  Estimated delivery is Friday.  I will post a tracking number if they send me one.  Christopher, do what ever you want with the humidifier.  It's your to toss or try Jackal's suggestion or use as a Christmas ornament, or whatever.

Once you get the humidification packets and the cigars from Greg feel free to do your thing with this pass.

For the cost of the humidifier I would toss it. I had a couple of cheap foam humidifiers that I used distilled water in......and they grew some fuzzy stuff in my travel tupperware. I have since changed to PG solution and have not had any problems.

I tossed my fuzzy discs and chalked it up to experience.

By the way, it is tough to tell from the photo, is that really mold, or could it be hard water spots?  What was the disc filled with?

My experience is distilled water + foam + temps above 75 + time = mold.

I agree.  If no PG was used then mold or bacteria will happen.

For the record, every pass I have been a part of has come to me with a huimidifer disk as the humidification method.

I have the packets coming to Voexum, so I think we can move on now.

So my puts came back to me today with damaged packaging....The cigars are fine and I will be sending them out with express delivery to Voexium tomorrow (I missed the post today by about an hour and a half)

Sorry for the inconvience Voex. I think you get it either next day or 2nd day mail. So expect my puts no later than Friday.

So Canada post must hate me. It came back again today, opened and returned listed contents not declaired.

So Chris, I sent out another package this morning. The Tracking number is CX 400 962 398 CA and can be tracked either at http://www.canadapost.ca or by calling 1 800 267 1177 (Toll Free)

The guy at the post office said the best thing for me to do is declair what is in the box, mark it as a gift, mark it as if needed to be returned return at senders expense and hope for the best. So Chris when you receive this package, there's no bells and whistles with it, its just a box, the humi pouches and the cigars inside. Hopefully you'll see these by Tuesday or so.

Sorry guys, I don't know if Canadians have ever participated in passes in the past, but this has been quite a pain in the A$$....this one might be my first and last.

So in Canada, you get national healthcare and don't have to lock your doors, but your postal system is an ass-beating...

We are fortunate that shipping cigars across US state lines is not taxed yet......notice I said Y E T  !!!!  It's coming.... any way they can squeeze a nickle out of smokers, they will.

But until then, cigar passes in the states are pretty safe. (and fun ! )  :dancing:  :dancing:

Hillary banned cigars for other reasons I think, if Bill was just smoking them straight out of the humidor on his desk this never would have gotten out of hand !

Greg, I am glad we had/have you.  It is all David's fault for bringing it up and jinxing it in the first place.  I hadn't planned on starting this pass until a couple of weeks ago anyway.  I got it moving as soon as you joined in anticipation of a little delay.  It has been longer than we expected, but that's okay.  It's not your fault.  If the U.S. had just won that battle in Montreal in the 1800s then all of Canada would be ours and we wouldn't have this problem.  Fingers crossed, next week we will have all the cigars together in New York.  We won't have a fuzzy humidifier.  And the pass will be ready to continue.

I'm glad we could facilitate a littel more political debate.

We should have taken Quebec in 1775 and made Canada our 14th colony.  Unfortunately, we did that invasion kind of half-assed.

Thanks for that. I really felt like I was holding everything up and was a huge burden on this pass. I'm glad that I got the chance to try this out, I'd never done it before, so thank you for giving me the chance to try it.

As I told Neil, I have no issue holding the pass until every thing's together so your not inconveniencing me what-so-ever. I'm keeping the cigars in one of my humidors so there not sitting in baggies, tupperware and cardboard boxes to ensure their good health.

Best of luck with shipping!
