So, whats a few of yours? I'll start but I'm sure there will be 9,457 tunes that I'll forget...in no particular order.

Led Zep... "Babe, I'm gonna leave you", "Tangerine" and "Gallows Pole"

Stones..."Gimme Shelter" and "Miss You"

Beatles..."Eleanor Rigby" and "Let it be" as well as many others!

Atlanta Rhythm Section..."So in to You" and "Imaginary Lover"

Rush..."The Trees" and "Passage to Bangkok" as well as "Closer to the Heart"

Rare Earth..."I just want to Celebrate"

Elton John..."Rocket Man" and "Sorry seems to be the hardest word"

Allman Brothers... " Revival" and "Whipping Post"

Bob Seger..."You'll accompany Me" and "Night Moves"

The Eagles...Pick one, I love them all..."Victim of Love" and "Hotel California" in particular...

Deep Purple..."Hush" and "Burn"

Heart..."Magic Man" and "Barracuda"

Marshall Tucker Band..."Cant you See" and "Fire on the Mountain"

Thats a few, I'll add others later!
"I bet there's rich folks eating in fancy dining cars,
They're probably drinkin' coffee and smoking big cigars"

We have some similar tastes...

Gotta go with Led Zeppelin - just about all of them, but you left off "Stairway to Heaven".  I through IV in particular

Van Halen - Anything from 1984 or earlier.

Rush - gotta add "Red Barchetta" and "Tom Sawyer"

Beatles - add "Lucy in the sky" plus many others

Pink Floyd........................

Add some Southern Rock...Skynard and Steve Miller
Twenty years ago we had Steve Jobs, Johnny Cash and Bob Hope.  Now we have no jobs, no cash and no hope. Please don't let Kevin Bacon die!

In addition to those bands already menitoned, I'm into just about anything from Pink Floyd, but especially The Wall

Also just about anything from Grateful Dead

Again, just about anything from The Doors

Warren Zevon's 'Werewolves of London' 'Lawyers, Guns & Money' and 'The Indifference of Heaven'

A little Simon & Garfunkel, like 'Homeward Bound' 'I Am A Rock' and 'The Sound of Silence'

And a little Billy Joel and Fleetwood Mac

That's just classic stuff.  I could go on with all the 'newer' stuff out there, but that's probably a different thread for a different time.

How the hell long did it take you to put that together?

Thats quite an extensive list...good stuff on there though.

It is long, but this is another way of answering the main question.  As a playlist, it is probably atypical of what is on most people's MP3 devices.  A few things we all know, some things that sound vaguely familiar, and a whole lot of things that are just out there.  These devices really give us the ability to revisit our personal collections, throw together as many songs as we want, then mix and match and mash up the list; basically impossible to do with records, tapes and CD's.

I'm not that fanatical about music, but I have gone as far as buying a pair of Sennheiser HD 590's just because I spend a lot of hours listening while at the computer.  For remote listening, I have a pair of Etymotic ER-6i earphones.
