Hey, all.

Some months ago I offered to sponsor the November contest.  I forgot all about it, of course, until Pete reminded me.   :shamebag:   Thanks, Pete.

Life has been busy, so I haven't put nearly as much thought into this contest as I'd planned.  Here goes:

Over the past fourteen days, I've been on seven planes and spent the night in five different major US cities (some more than once) and several not-at-all major cities.

I'm offering a five-pack of premium cigars to whomever can guess the 5 cities I've been in.  A few hints:

All are east of the Mississippi.
Each city is one of the Top 50 largest US cities
Each city is in a different state

Guess the cities.

Rules:
- One guess per person.  If you guess more than once, I'll count the first guess and disregard the rest.
- If no one gets all five cities right, the one with the most correct wins.

- In the event of a tie, I'll choose the winner at random.

All submissions must be in by midnight Eastern time on November 29.  Winner will be announced on November 30.

My guess...

Boston, MA
New York, NY
Philadelphia, PA
Atlanta, GA
Charlotte, NC

In the event that Boston, MA doesn't count since you basically live there, I'll guess Memphis, TN as well.

Does Boston count?

Good question - if it doesn't, can I revise my answer?

Boston should count as a guess (no take backs!), but I doubt that it is a correct answer.  Why would Eddie sleep in Boston when he lives nearby in the suburbs?  But its feasible that he is at the office late at night and decides to get a room rather than drive home, so your guess should count.

As someone that travels a lot for work I always say what major city I am going to, not where I actually stay. I spent a week in Larchmont and the Virginia Highlands last month. I tell people I was in New York and Atlanta. I live in Parker but when people ask where I live I say Denver. It doesn't matter to me one way or another as its not my contest. Good luck to all entrants!

Rich - you were in Virginia Highlands and you didn't let me know?  I work within a 15 minute drive; we could have met up for a smoke.

I'm sorry brother. It was one of those trips of early mornings and late nights with sales reps and their clients the whole time. I didn't even see my parents who I always try to see when I'm in Atlanta.  I'm actually going to be back in a few months and would love to hook up then. If you have forgiven me by then.  :-)

Not a problem - just giving you a hard time.  Let me know when you will be in town and we'll get together for a smoke.....or three.

Here's how I'll answer:

I'm a very simple-minded, literal guy.  When I say I spent the night in a city, I mean actually within the city limits.  So, if I went to southern California and stayed in Santa Monica or Beverly Hills, that would NOT count as Los Angeles.  But if stayed in a neighborhood within a city limits, that counts as staying in the city, even if the neighborhood has its own name (say, Cherry Creek in Denver).

Anyone  who now wants to revise their answer may do so, but that permission to revise should not be read as a suggestion that anyone needs to revise.
