Hey all, I've only been smoking cigars for roughly 10 months, but my favorite beer pairing is Paulaner Oktoberfest Marzen and anything. I'm smoking a Man O War Armada with one as I type and loving it! What's your favorite beer pairing?

I've mixed all sorts of beer with all sorts of cigars, but the combination I most often repeat is the maduro or colorado maduro/imperial stout combination.  Recently I combined a one year old Yeti Oak Aged Chocolate Imperial Stout with Finck Commerce Double Corona.  I also had a one year old Sierra Nevada 40th Anniversary Stout with a Brick House Robusto.  Both combinations were great.

While not an imperial stout, the Guinness Foreign Extra Stout did really well with the Carlos Torano 1959 Exodus Robusto I had a few days ago.

Welcome to Cigar Geeks, Keith.  I Like Ommegang Abbey Ale with a stout cigar like a MoW.

Why don't you go over to the Newbie Forum and introduce yourself?  You will find that we are a friendly bunch!  Link is here:

:welcome: to Cigar Geeks Kieth.

My favorite pairing sounds corny, but it really is good ... Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, with a Diesel Unholy Cocktail.

Thanks for the great pairing suggestions everyone! And the warm welcome! I'll head over to newbie corner as soon as i get a chance.

I finished up the night with a La Gloria Cubana & Paulaner, not bad!

I like full bodied Nicaraguan Maduros and Porters or stouts.  Gets me to thinking that I need to track down some New Belgium 1551...

Last night I paired a New Glarus Brewing Company Fat Squirrel with a Camacho Triple Maduro. I think the beer was better than the cigar, unfortunately!

When having a brew with my cigar, I usually reach for a bitter ale, a good India Pale Ale is a favorite.

A good weisse bier mates well with my milder smokes too.

If you haven't tried it, I would highly recommend Innis and Gunn original to pair with a cigar.  The beer is aged in oak casks and really brings out some of the hidden notes in your smoke.

Usually, but not always I'll pair a mild or medium bodied cigar with a blonde or ale or something cheap. If I have a full bodied cigar then I prefer to have a dark beer or something with a high alcohol content like 9%. But then sometimes the fridge is low on stock and I'll just grab whats on hand.

I've liked Sam Adams with cigars. Either the Boston Lager or their Light.

Mmmm, Paulaner  (insert drool emoticon).   I love their Hefeweizen, but  I don't like to pair hefeweizen with cigars normally.

Depending on the cigar, I usually go with a light bodied lager or a Guinness.  I'd love to have a Dos Equis Amber with my cigar (as my avatar would indicate), but it's not readily available here in the Land of the Moaning Clam.

I never did develop a taste for Newcastle.  It always tastes a little flat to me...

I like something sweet and complex to go with fuller flavored cigars.  Hoegaarden is a great choice, as it has notes of sweet and sour along with a hint of citrus.

i prefer a home made porter with a maduro edge by RP. they work well together.
I am not concerned about what you think as I can tell you don't do it often.

Porters and maduros are great together.  I recently paired a Sierra Nevada Porter with a Padron Churchill Maduro and they complimented each other extremely well.  I also paired Samuel Smith's Famous Taddy Porter with an Oliva Serie O Churchill Maduro a few weeks back and it was heavenly.
