...  I am, however, hooked on pretty much anything with a lot of black cavendish in it. I particularly enjoy the black cherry cavendish ..

Tonight I pulled out the 312 and filled it with Stokkebye's Black Majesty. Nice smoke. Stokkebye's is generally pretty good. I have had a couple McClelland blends that I liked a lot too.  It all came from smokingpipes.com.

Have you ever tried Erinmore?  A totally different smoking experience (sounds like an ad), I think it's from Ireland.  I have always liked three cheaper American brands myself, Half & Half is very nice, I always like Velvet, and the last bag I bought was a bargain brand and great stuff called Blenders Gold, I think my friend from Florida bought it for me at Walgreens.  Guys might laugh at my choices but all three are great pipe tobacco choices I'd say.

I will have to give Erinmore a try.  I confess to having very limited experience with pipe tobacco. Other than Stokkebye's and McClelland, the only other pipe baccy I have had was a couple Burlington blends.  Burlington is in Edmonton Alberta. I don't know if they have stores anywhere else. Their blends are unbelievably good - I would call them the Padron of the pipe world.  Yes, they are that good and, unfortunately, that expensive.
Smoke 'em if you got 'em

I've been smoking my MM Corncob quite a bit lately, but have been wanting to look into acquiring a Briar or two as time goes by.  Anybody have any suggestions as to a good "starter" that smokes well but isn't too hard on the wallet?

my first thought is to look at estate pipes, some great deals can be had that way. what price range are you looking at?

For a first Briar, I don't wanna get too carried away.  I'd say I'd probably want to stay under $75 for sure.

Good place to start. All are well known pipe makers that make some great smoking pipes in your price range.

Here's some tips.

Definate Lat bomb with what I would call a pie cherry tartness not the cherry flavor but that tart sensation
on the tongue. A little bit of spice on the retrohale. I have one open tin I'm smoking now and I think
it will only improve with 6 months to a years rest.

It would never occur to me that pipe tobacco needs aging. Makes sense I guess since I suppose it would benefit from a nice long rest just like a good cigar.

Great... One more that I wanna try now.  I picked up a nice Perique blend at the B&M in Amarillo the other day to try and I'm already thinking I'll have to go back for at leas a Quart Jar's worth.  They Call it J&J blend but I"m of the opinion that Fantastical is more appropriate.  Other than that I put up a tin of Samuel Gawith Squadron Leader and a tin of John Aylesbury Finest British.  I'll be looking forward to both of those and whatever else I stash between now and then.  I've been cellaring them, oddly enough, in the cellar.

I always imagine that Kyle lives in this big farm house which has like 9 rooms, and all but the one he sleeps in has tobacco stored from floor to ceiling.

Who knows... maybe we'll see him on the TV show "Confessions of a Hoarder" someday. It will be called "Confessions of a Tobacco Hoarder."
